This is exactly what happened to workers in France when they began renovations on an old grape drying plant that had been converted into housing for seasonal workers. They were tearing down the ceiling when out of nowhere, it was raining money.  Precisely 497 coins, likely produced between 1851 and 1928.

It’s been speculated that the gold coins were hidden there in the 1930s. The winery may have done business with prohibition era smugglers.  According to the Agence France-Presse, half the money goes to the workers and the other half to the building’s owners.
