Signs. Stop. Yield. Slow Down. Railroad crossing. Street signs. Interstate exits. Neon signs. Flashing signs. Men at work signs. Signs, signs, everywhere there’s signs. And take a lesson from it! The yard sale that’s easy to find is the one with the customers. So, be sure to clearly mark the way to your yard sale.
Maybe the most important step in hosting a yard sale is making sure that your customers can find it. The rest of the work is going to be all for naught if people can’t find you. So, list on Yardsale Treasures. Make sure your address and the icon on the map are in the right spot. Sometimes, neighborhoods are hard to navigate. Make sure to take a look at the map and make sure Google has you in the right place.
After you’ve listed. Take a walk or ride around your neighborhood. See if there are any turns or roads that could make finding you confusing. These might be places that could benefit from a well placed directional sign. Take the guess work out of finding your sale. Your customers will appreciate you saving them valuable time. Expand the circle a little further than your neigborhood. Case out places to hang signs or place balloons on the day of the sale. If there’s a main road that gets a lot of traffic nearby, consider directing people to your yard sale from there.
The morning of your sale or the night before, pack some tape, some eye catching signs, maybe even a staple gun. Balloons and other eye catchers from the party store are also a good idea. Your sale will attract more customers if it looks like a party. The people, they appreciate a party! Hang your signs, point the way, make millions of dollars and have clean closets! It’s as easy as that.
After your sale, don’t forget to collect your signs and balloons. You don’t want to leave a mess for your neighbors or have yard sale enthusiasts at your door the next morning as well!
